Use of aspirin

A former EMT with CareFlight (same as Life Flight in Houston (but in  Dallas ) sent this information.  He said do not have the heart attack patient swallow the aspirin but place it under the tongue.  The reason is, there are 2 good size veins (which return blood to heart) that are only covered by a thin layer of membrane.  This allows for the aspirin to almost immediately enter the blood stream going to the heart.  If swallowed, the aspirin has to take a longer journey through the stomach before reaching the heart.  If you go to a mirror and stick out your tongue so that you can see the underside, you can see the 2 blue veins running parallel on either side of the center of the tongue.  This former EMT's Dad was lucky to already know this procedure when he had his heart attack and credits it to saving his life.

Something that we can do to help ourselves.  Nice to know.  Bayer is making crystal aspirin to dissolve under the tongue. They work much faster than the tablets.
Why keep aspirin by your bedside?
About Heart Attacks
There are other symptoms of an heart attack besides the pain on the left arm.
One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chinas well as nausea and lots ofsweating , however these symptoms may also occur less frequently.

Note :   There may be NO pain in the chest during a heart attack.  The majority of people (about 60%) who  had a heart attack during their sleep, did not wake up.  However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from your deep sleep.
If that happens, immediately dissolve two aspirins in your mouth and swallow them with a bit of water
.

Afterwards :

phone a neighbour  or a family member who lives very close by
say  "heart attack!"  say that you have taken 2 aspirins ..
-   take a seat on a chair or sofa near the front door, and wait for their arrival and ...
